MANILA — With 60 people killed and 100 others injured, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday (23 March 2024) said there were no Filipinos affected in a mass shooting at a concert hall in Moscow, Russia that the terrorist Islamic State (IS) quickly claimed responsibility.
Extending condolences to the victims’ families, the DFA also condemned the incident and advised Filipinos in Russia to be very careful.
“The Philippine Embassy in Moscow reported that there are no Filipinos affected in the attack and has advised the Filipino community in Moscow to undertake the necessary precautions following the attack,” DFA spokesperson Teresita Daza said.
It was gathered that a group of up to five gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall in Moscow.
Subsequently, the terrorist group IS claimed responsibility for the attack.
“The Philippines strongly condemns the heinous attack at the Crocus Hall in Moscow on 22 March 2024, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives, caused injuries to several people, and significantly damaged properties,” the DFA said in a statement.
The DFA also condemned the incident.
It added: “We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured people speedy recovery.”
