MANILA — The Makati Medical Center announced on its Facebook page that the meaning of red lights flashing on its edifice meant that the hospital was in need of blood donors.

This happened last Thursday, November 16, 2023.

In line with this “red lights” announcement, the hospital welcomes people interested in donating their blood at the MakatiMed Blood Bank.

“If you happen to see them (red lights), our doors are open for your gracious donation — and we will be forever grateful,” the hospital said in its post.

“Interested donors may go to the MakatiMed Blood Bank and employees will assist them. Donors need to initially understand the pre-donation instructions, fill out the donor form, and disclose their health history,” it added.

“Hospital staff will then check their weight, vital signs, and medical history. They will extract blood samples to determine the blood type and hemoglobin level. After all that, blood donation will start until it reaches 450 mL.”

The post also said that the hospital is open for the donation of blood every single day from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

For further concerns and information, donors can email blood.bank@makatimed.net.ph or call (+632) 8888 8999 local 3016.

“Your generosity can bring hope and save lives. Share your gift of life today!” the hospital stated.
