BEWARE OF “GET-RICH-QUICK” SCHEMES by crypto scammers using some prominent personalities like former Finance Secretary Carlos “Sonny” Dominguez III.
An ad on Facebook Messenger with the message: “Daan-daang libo ang dumagsa sa mga bangko matapos ang panayam ni Carlos Dominguez” is making rounds deceiving people to invest in bitcoins.
“I’ve reported these fake news pieces, but they persist,” Dominguez said as quoted by bilyonaryo.com
Dominguez recalled that while serving as the Finance secretary under the administration of then-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, he had reached out to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for assistance.
He noted that online scammers enticed internet users into Bitcoin investments by falsely claiming that he and other prominent Philippine government officials had endorsed the “Bitcoin investments.”
Dominguez shared with DOJ one of the screenshots of his image juxtaposed with that of TV host Vic Sotto. (ai/mnm)
