MANILA — Kim Chiu, the guest Star Patroller on ‘TV Patrol, opened up about her personal life on Monday (22 Jan 2024), a month after confirming her split with long-time boyfriend Xian Lim.

Despite a flourishing showbiz career and numerous projects, Chiu candidly revealed that she is not in a hurry to enter a new romantic relationship due to her hectic schedule.

“I’m searching for The One. Just kidding! I am looking for him, but not right now because I’m busy. Soon. Maybe he’ll have a snack first! Just kidding! Let’s take it day by day, enjoy the moment, and have fun,” Chiu said.

Is Kim Chiu ready to fall in love again?

Currently, Chiu is eagerly anticipating the release of the teleserye version of her series “Linlang,” which premiered on Monday. The series was initially featured on the streaming platform Prime Video last year.

Chiu shared that the teleserye version will include even more intense scenes and revelations, making it a must-watch for audiences.

“I’m extremely excited because when they watched ‘Linlang’ on Prime Video, that was only 40 to 45 percent of our show. And this time, it’s the complete and longer, uncut version of ‘Linlang.’ If they felt shortchanged last year, this time we’re going to fill them up with excitement,” Chiu said.

Chiu admits she finds joy in affecting viewers with Juliana Lualhati, the character she portrays in the series.

“It’s a happy kind of excitement. It removed my fear that I might not portray the role properly. So when I received hate comments, this was the only hate I could accept. I hope I did it well; maybe I’m thrilled that some people are upset with me,” she said.

For Chiu, Juliana is one of the most challenging characters she has played in her showbiz career. “Really! She is one of the most out-of-the-box characters I’ve seen, and I’m happy I took the challenge. She’s the biggest and boldest character I’ve portrayed in my entire showbiz career,” she said.

Chiu is grateful for the numerous acting opportunities that have come her way.

She is currently working again with actor Paulo Avelino, who was also her leading man in “Linlang,” on the Philippine adaptation of the Korean series “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.”

“The taping is ongoing. Sometimes it overlaps with ‘Linlang,’ making it a bit challenging. Director Chad (Vidanes) would say, ‘Your portrayal is quite heavy; let’s keep it light.’ We had a hard time leaving our roles, but we’re working on it and enjoying it. It’s very fun, very light. It’s like we went crazy together, always quarreling in ‘Linlang,’ and now we’re not fighting; it’s different,” she said.

Chiu also shared some memorable moments during the wedding of her good friend Angelica Panganiban.

“Our eyes were swollen, Bela (Padilla) and I! We cried a lot. She (Panganiban) truly deserves to find her forever, and that’s Gregg (Homan). Their wedding in the US was intimate, only family and chosen friends! We weren’t invited; we just insisted! We wouldn’t allow her to get married, change her last name, and not have us there, so we insisted on going,” Chiu said. (With reports from Bas-CBN News/Elami/MNM)
