THE TEACHERS Dignity Coalition-Central Luzon Teachers Union condemned the killing of school principal Reden Daquiz who was shot outside a school in Nueva Ecija on September 19.

Reports said Daquiz was shot seven times by motorcycle-riding assailants outside the Sto. Tomas North Central School in Jaen town in front of students, teachers and parents.

The group said that the incident is alarming as it also endangered the lives of the people, especially children, present during the slaying.

“Every act of violence is alarming, but it is particularly disturbing when it threatens the physical safety of people in places of learning. This is because schools are places where children learn and grow,” Menard Fajardo, Munoz National School TDC-CLTU president, said.

“We take a firm stance against any and all forms of violence and uphold the value of a safe and nurturing environment for the sake of our children, teachers, staff, and the entire school community,” Fajardo added.

The group also called on the authorities, local government units, DepEd officials, and security personnel to guarantee the safety of learners and teachers.

“Every one of us is in danger if one of us is threatened,” Fajardo said.
