On Thursday (October 12, 2023), members of the Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD) embarked on a march from Mendiola to Malacañang. Their primary demand was the cancellation of debt and the provision of reparations for historical climate and economic injustices. This protest coincided with the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Their cause resonated with numerous other organizations across the globe, as part of the Global Week of Action for Debt, Climate, and Economic Justice.
Photographs captured the determined groups as they advanced towards Malacanang, brandishing large banners that criticized the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) annual meeting.
