MANILA — Inaprubahan na ng House Special Committee on Persons with Disabilities nitong Miyerkules (22 Nov 2023) ang panukalang naglalayong magbigay ng P2,000 buwanang allowance sa mga may kapansanan.
Nakasaad sa substitute bill na ang allowance o stipend ay mai-index sa inflation upang mapanatili ang positibong epekto nito sa pamantayan ng pamumuhay at partisipasyon ng mga PWD.
“The bill provides for P2,000 monthly to cover the expenses incurred by persons with disabilities. The program shall be implemented in two phases to allow our finance managers enough leeway to source funds,” paliwanag ni Deputy Majority Leader at Quezon City Third District Representative Franz Pumaren.
“This would contribute, in combination with existing social protection programs and discounts to address the higher cost of transportation, housing, nutrition, hygiene, and temporary human assistance requirements, among others,” ayon sa panukala.
Iminumungkahi nitong kunin ang pondo para sa pagpapatupad ng panukala sa taunang badyet ng Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Ang panukalang batas ay ipapasa sa House Committee on Appropriations para sa mga komento nito sa probisyon ng pagpopondo sa susunod na mga araw.
