MANILA — The city government here has introduced a fresh “fare matrix” for three-wheeled passenger vehicles following the passage of a new ordinance by the Manila City Council (MCC).

The updated fare matrix applies to tricycles, e-trikes, and pedicabs operating within the city.

For tricycles and pedicabs, the fare is now fixed at P16 per passenger for the initial kilometer, with an additional charge of P5 for every 500 meters traveled thereafter.

As for e-trikes, passengers will be charged a flat rate of P20 on approved routes.

“Those who will violate this ordinance will receive an OVR (ordinance violation receipt) and will be subject to a fine of P1,000, the MCC said.

This fine is in accordance with Code 43 of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) Fines and Penalties, as well as Section 104-C of Ordinance No. 8092, also known as the Traffic Management Code of the City of Manila.

For a second violation, the driver will face another P1,000 fine, and their vehicle will be impounded for an additional three days.

In the case of a third violation, a fine of P1,000 will be imposed once more, along with a seven-day impound.

If a fourth violation occurs, the permit, accreditation, and franchise of the driver will be canceled.

In the event that passengers are charged excessive fares by these vehicles, the local government advises passengers to:

1. Collect important details such as the body number, route, location, and the name of the tricycle driver.

2, Report these incidents to the MTPB Facebook page, MPTB-TMU Office, or via email at TMUManila@gmail.com.
