Ecuador’s political landscape was shaken once again as its youngest mayor, 27-year-old Brigitte Garcia, fell victim to a tragic assassination alongside her aide in the crime-plagued nation.

Their bodies were discovered inside a rented vehicle in San Vincente, with reports indicating they were shot dead by gunfire originating from within the car.

The incident marks another grim chapter in Ecuador’s struggle with political violence.

Brigitte Garcia, serving as the Mayor of San Vincente, and her communications director, Jairo Loor, were found lifeless in the province of Munabi early on Sunday.

Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds, believed to have been inflicted from within the vehicle, according to authorities.

The car, equipped with a GPS, was under surveillance, adding a layer of tragedy to the already distressing event.

Brigitte Garcia, a member of the Citizen Revolution Movement, a left-wing party associated with former President Rafael Correa, now joins the list of political figures who have tragically lost their lives in Ecuador’s turbulent political landscape.
