MANILA — In a distressing turn of events, a 22-year-old female student lost her life on Friday (19 Jan 2024) afternoon, after being shot inside Guimaras State University (GSU) in Buenavista.
The assailant was identified as Zoilo Sereño, the former boyfriend of the victim, Christine Mae Piamonte.
Sereño, employed at the Pulupandan Rural Health Unit and residing in Barangay Zone 6, Pulupandan City, Negros Occidental, had a history of a three-year relationship with Piamonte.
Unfortunately, the couple parted ways in September of the preceding year.
On the day of the incident, Sereño, arriving from Pulupandan via a private pump boat, gained access to the university premises under the guise of delivering Piamonte’s allowance.
However, his true intention was to confront Piamonte regarding their past relationship.
Piamonte, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration student at GSU and a resident of Barangay Cabungahan, San Lorenzo, Guimaras, became the unfortunate victim of this tragic episode.
Local authorities are actively investigating the incident to uncover the details surrounding this unfortunate event.
