LIKE A WOUNDED BUT PROUD WARRIOR, the erstwhile ruling party PDP-Laban refuses to throw in the towel.

Palawan 2nd District Rep. Jose Chaves Alvarez has expressed confidence that the PDP-Laban, which was “hijacked” by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte from the leadership of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, will survive “any weather amid the country’s “changing political landscape.”

Alvarez is currently president of the PDP-Laban party, Duterte wing.

“PDP Laban will weather any storm as it has done in the past 41 years. And it will continue to support endeavors for the good of the country,” Alvarez said.

Alvarez’s remarks were posted on the PDP-Laban’s Facebook page.

Senator Robinhood Padilla, who ironically resigned as PDP-Laban Vice President last May 30, also shared the same post.

Earlier, Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel attributed the “political exodus” to the recent conflict between FPRD, VP Sara Duterte, and the House of Representatives led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

The feisty former president had called the House of Representatives “the most rotten institution” even though he was once a member representing Davao City’s 1st District, from June 30, 1998, to June 30, 2001.

Pimentel also hinted at the possibility of leaving Duterte’s party.

“We expect in the coming weeks more members will transfer to other parties,” the Surigaonon lawmaker added.
