The romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is not a calculated NFL publicity stunt, according to an NFL marketing executive. Recent speculation suggested that their relationship was a manufactured effort to boost interest in football.

Travis Kelce, a prominent player for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been romantically involved with Taylor Swift, who has attended three of his last four NFL games to support him. Her presence at these games, both on television and in the stadiums, drew thousands of Swift fans, but this led some to speculate that their relationship might be a mere publicity ploy. Additionally, Swift’s “Eras Tour” movie recently premiered, potentially benefiting from the added attention.

Marissa Solis, the NFL’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, strongly denies any involvement of the NFL in the alleged publicity stunt. In an interview with Deadline, she stated, “People think that we may have had something to do with it. Absolutely not. We knew nothing. We knew what you guys knew and followed on social media. Travis went to her concert and asked her to maybe come to a game. We had no idea that she was going to show up. And once it happened, she showed up to a game, and in an instant, literally in a second, it went viral.”

Solis also mentioned that the NFL was prepared to create content like ‘Football 101 for Swifties’ to help fans of Taylor Swift who were unfamiliar with football better understand the game. She emphasized that there are thousands of dedicated NFL fans who are not familiar with Taylor Swift.

Over the weekend, the couple spent time together in New York, with Swift initially flying to Kansas City to watch the Chiefs play against the Denver Broncos. It remains uncertain whether she will be present at Arrowhead Stadium for the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday, as her tour schedule is quite busy. Her next Eras tour show is scheduled for November 9 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After this weekend, the Chiefs have a game in Denver against the Broncos on October 29, followed by a match with the Miami Dolphins in Germany on November 5.
