MARGARITA “Meggie” Ochoa secured the Philippines its second gold medal at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China on October 5, 2023.
Competing in the women’s –48 kg jiu-jitsu division, Ochoa emerged victorious in the final match against Balqees Abdulla from the United Arab Emirates, clinching the gold.
This achievement marks the Philippines’ second gold medal in the 19th Asian Games, with the first being earned by pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena on September 30.
