MANILA – The shear line, northeast monsoon, and easterlies will continue to cause rainfall in various parts of the Philippines, according to the latest advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its early morning bulletin on Saturday (18 Jan 2025), PAGASA reported that Isabela, Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, and Camarines Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
These areas are at risk for flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
The monsoon will also affect Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, and parts of Central Luzon and Calabarzon, resulting in partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, influenced by the easterlies.
PAGASA also noted that moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will affect Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected in other regions of the archipelago.

The shear line will continue to bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to Bicol, Quezon, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, the easterlies will affect Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte, causing similar weather conditions.
The northeast monsoon will bring rains to Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, and Aurora, with moderate to heavy rainfall raising the risk of flash floods and landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Isolated light rains are also expected across the rest of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon. The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, influenced by the easterlies.
PAGASA also warned of strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas across Northern Luzon. Moderate to strong winds and rough seas will continue in the rest of Luzon, while the Visayas and Mindanao will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
No low-pressure areas are currently being monitored for potential tropical cyclone formation, PAGASA added.

The shear line will bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon. Cagayan and Isabela are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Meanwhile, the easterlies will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
The northeast monsoon will bring rains to the Cordillera Administrative Region and most of Cagayan Valley, with isolated light rains expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

On Thursday (21 March 22024), PAGASA reported that scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, brought about by the easterlies, are expected over the Caraga region, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro. Residents in these areas are cautioned about the potential for moderate to heavy rains, which could trigger flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the “amihan” will usher in light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte. Additionally, isolated light rains are anticipated across the rest of Luzon.
Localized thunderstorms are forecasted to cause isolated rain showers in other parts of the country.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over Luzon and the Visayas, while in Mindanao, winds are predicted to be light to moderate with slight to moderate coastal waters.
Temperature ranges for selected areas include Metro Manila at 25°C to 32°C; Baguio City at 14°C to 22°C; Laoag City at 22°C to 31°C; Legazpi City at 24°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu at 26°C to 31°C; Puerto Princesa City at 26°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao at 25°C to 34°C.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA warned of cloudy skies with rains in the Bicol region due to the northeast monsoon, potentially leading to flash floods or landslides amid moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon are forecasted to experience cloudy skies with light rains attributed to the ‘amihan’.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are anticipated to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also influenced by the northeast monsoon.
For the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms. PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
While no gale warning has been issued, fishermen are advised to exercise caution when venturing into the seas, especially in Luzon, where moderate to rough seas are expected due to moderate to strong winds blowing northeast.
Elsewhere in the country, light to moderate winds blowing northeast and slightly moderate coastal waters are anticipated.
Temperatures in key areas are forecasted as follows: Metro Manila ranging from 24°C to 31°C; Baguio City, 14°C to 24°C; Laoag City, 22°C to 32°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu, 25°C to 30°C; Puerto Princesa City, 24°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 24°C to 32°C.
