MANILA — Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Thursday (18 Jan 2024) said that she will make her decision to run for Taguig City mayor by March.
“Wala pa ring sign. Wala pa eh. I’m giving myself until March, I have to decide by then,” Binay said.
Binay raised the prospect of running in Taguig following Makati’s defeat in the court case over the jurisdiction of Embo barangays over the other city.
The local official, whose family has ruled affluent Makati for many years, expressed her gratitude for having a number of choices in the next election.
“Kaya sinasabi ko palagi, siguro maswerte ako kasi marami akong options eh. Pwede akong national, I can go for Congress, run for Senate, I can run for mayor. I can decide not to run. I can become a full-time wife. I can study. Maswerte ako na may ganoong options, kaya medyo mahirap mamili kung ano yung tatahakin nating landas,” she said.
Binay said that she sees her husband as successor, saying he is the only person she trusts to continue her projects.

“Maraming projects ang sisiguraduhin kong itutuloy niya dahil kung hindi, hindi na siya makakauwi ng bahay,” Binay added.
