On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, several militant groups forcefully navigated their way past a road barricade enforced by the Manila Police District (MPD) as they proceeded toward the US Embassy.
Among the demonstrators were Muslims hailing from Mindanao, and representatives from diverse tribes such as the Tausug, Maranao, and Maguindanao. They vehemently denounced the ongoing “genocide” in the Gaza Strip perpetrated by Israel, coupled with their condemnation of the sustained support extended by the US government.
Additionally, the protestors expressed strong opposition to the current round of US-Philippines military exercises. The march, aptly named “From Palestine to the Philippines” and “Stop the US War Machine,” highlighted the latter’s involvement in the significant humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the escalating conflicts in East Asia.
