Exactly one year after the tragic killing of the outspoken radio broadcaster Percy Mabasa Lapid, activists from the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP), Freedom for Media Freedom for All (FMFA), and other advocates gathered in front of the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, to demand justice and accountability from the government.
Percy Lapid, known for his hard-hitting radio program ‘Lapid Fire,’ was a vocal critic of former President Rodrigo Duterte. On October 3, 2022, he was fatally shot by two assailants riding a motorcycle in tandem.
Photographs from the event capture journalists as they peacefully staged a rally just outside the Department of Justice (DOJ) building along Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila.
