“We’re not gonna lie (NGL)” but this is a massive update as American publishing company Merriam-Webster updated its dictionary by adding 690 new words for the month of September 2023.

According to the most recent research of the dictionary, the English language is “very (very)” healthy as words in the said language are continuously being created.

“Signs of a healthy language include words being created, words being borrowed from other languages, and new meanings being given to existing words,” Merriam-Webster said.

Included in the newly added words are “rizz” which means romantic appeal or charm, “simp” meaning to show excessive devotion or longing for someone, and “bussin” which conveys delicious, tasty, and excellent.

GOATED is also included as a new word adaptation which means to be the greatest of all time.

The dictionary also added words in abbreviations like NGL, the abbreviation for “not gonna lie,” TTYL for “talk to you later,” and “TFW” which intends to introduce a relatable scenario in social media or in text messages.

Furthermore, Merriam-Webster considered various fields to fill up the list such as the digital world, analog world, gaming, cultures and society, food, climate and the environment, sports, and business.

Other prominent words such as chef’s kiss, nerf, rage quit, jump scare, grammable, thirst trap, smashburger, beast mode, and girl boss were included in the massive update.
