The commitment to advancing the goals of the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan (PLEP) 2023–2028 and providing support to it was reaffirmed by the government, labor unions, and other tripartite partners.
This affirmation took place during the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) 2023 National Tripartite Conference (NTC) held in Pasay City.
DOLE Secretary and NTC Chairperson Bienvenido Laguesma emphasized that the conference underscored tripartism as a fundamental value in industrial relations.
The NTC adopted a resolution during the two-day conference, containing the tripartite statement of support and an action plan.
“We recognize that the PLEP 2023-2028 is a tripartite document embodying the collective resolve and commitment to action of the government, social partners, and all other stakeholders towards realizing a modern, progressive, secure, and inclusive society under a regime of social justice,” read the tripartite statement.
To ensure labor market governance upholds fundamental workplace rights, international labor standards, and human rights, as well as to build an equitable and inclusive social protection system, conference attendees addressed the PLEP’s strategic areas of priority.
These include maximizing productive, remunerative, freely chosen, and sustainable work and employment opportunities.
