MANILA — In the late hours of Tuesday (June 27, 2023), two Chinese nationals were apprehended by officers from the Manila Police District after a routine traffic stop for a minor obstruction on Adriatico and Remedios St, Malate, Manila.

The incident resulted in the discovery of an illegal firearm and a bladed weapon.

Upon conducting a verification process, law enforcement officers found that the suspects, identified as Fuwen Hu (35 years old) and Liu Yan (27 years old), did not possess a valid driver’s license.

Visual inspection by the authorities subsequently revealed a Glock pistol and a bladed weapon within their possession.

The suspects, who are both residents of Makati City and reportedly service personnel, were promptly arrested for the possession of illegal firearms, an unauthorized knife, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Following the arrest, a complaint was filed against the suspects at the Manila Prosecutor’s Office for charges related to the illegal possession of firearms as stipulated by Republic Act 10591, driving without a valid driver’s license, and illegal possession of deadly weapons. (ai/mtvn)
