MANILA – Persistently warm and humid conditions continue to prevail across the country due to the easterlies, as announced by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday (14 April 2024).

PAGASA reports that eight areas in the country are currently experiencing a heat index ranging from 42°C to 43°C. These areas include Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Aparri and Tuguegarao in Cagayan, Dumangas in Iloilo, Zamboanga City, and Cotabato City, with a heat index of 42°C, while Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan in Palawan are experiencing a heat index of 43°C.

According to PAGASA’s heat index classification system, areas registering a heat index of 42 to 51°C fall under the “danger” category. PAGASA warns that prolonged exposure to such conditions may lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

In other weather updates, PAGASA forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may bring about potential flash floods or landslides.

Northern Luzon and other parts of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
