MANILA — Warm and humid conditions is to persist across the Philippines today, Thursday (11 April 2024) attributed to the easterlies, according to a meteorologist on Thursday.

Aldczar Aurelio from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted the absence of tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility and the Pacific Ocean.

Consequently, fair weather is anticipated, although isolated rain showers or thunderstorms might occur, potentially leading to flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, cautioned PAGASA.

Tuguegarao is expected to reach temperatures up to 36°C, while Metro Manila, Laoag City, Kalayaan Islands, and Davao may see highs up to 34°C.

PAGASA also warned of high heat indices in several areas, with Dagupan City, Pangasinan projected to experience a scorching 44°C, and Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan town in Palawan potentially reaching a 43°C heat index.

A heat index ranging from 41°C to 51°C is deemed dangerous, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, exhaustion, and heat stroke with prolonged exposure.

In terms of sea conditions, moderate winds and seas are forecasted in the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon, while elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
