In the latest weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that two weather systems are set to bring rain showers to multiple areas in the country.

The shear line and the northeast monsoon, commonly known as “amihan,” are expected to influence the weather patterns, impacting specific regions.

The shear line is anticipated to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Quezon, as well as Northern and Eastern Samar and Samar. Simultaneously, the northeast monsoon will bring rains to Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

PAGASA has cautioned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods and landslides. The bureau also noted that the northeast monsoon is likely to result in isolated light rains over Central Luzon, the remaining parts of Ilocos Region, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region. The remainder of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Northern Luzon continues to experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas. Rough to very rough seas are expected along the northern, western, and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, prompting advisories for mariners using small seacraft to stay in port.

In contrast, other regions can expect light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.

Additionally, the weather bureau reported that the tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has weakened into a low-pressure area. PAGASA stated that if it redevelops or enters the PAR as a tropical depression, it will be named “Kabayan.” Stay tuned for further updates as the weather conditions unfold.”
