MANILA – The northeastern monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” currently affecting Northern and Central Luzon, is forecasted to bring light rain showers across the island on Monday, according to the weather bureau.

Light rains are expected over the Bicol and Cagayan Valley regions, as well as in the provinces of Aurora and Quezon. Isolated light showers will also be experienced across the rest of Luzon.

Obet Badrina, a forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), mentioned that the “amihan” weather pattern will persist until the third week of March.

Badrina further stated that no tropical cyclones are expected to form or approach the country this week.

Meanwhile, the easterlies will trigger isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over other parts of the archipelago. These severe weather conditions could lead to flash floods or landslides.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecasted for Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas. In contrast, winds are expected to be light to moderate with slight coastal waters elsewhere, as reported by PAGASA.
