MANILA — Southern Mindanao is currently experiencing the influence of a trough from a low pressure area (LPA), as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday 21 April 2024).
According to PAGASA’s 4 a.m. advisory, the LPA is situated 555 kilometers southeast of General Santos City and holds a low probability of intensifying into a tropical cyclone in the coming days.
Nevertheless, the LPA’s trough is anticipated to induce cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms across Caraga and Davao regions.
Residents residing near mountain slopes and low-lying areas are advised to remain vigilant against potential flash floods, given the prospect of light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.
PAGASA further noted the presence of a ridge of high pressure area extending over the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
Metro Manila
Metro Manila and other parts of the country are forecasted to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms resulting from localized thunderstorms.
Moreover, certain areas are projected to endure high heat index values ranging from 42°C to 44°C on Sunday:

PAGASA clarifies that the heat index signifies what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is factored in with the air temperature.
As a precautionary measure, the public is advised to limit outdoor activities, particularly during noon, and ensure adequate hydration. Additionally, individuals venturing outdoors should utilize umbrellas or wear hats and clothing with sleeves.
Throughout the archipelago, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected.
Temperature forecasts for key areas include Metro Manila, ranging from 25°C to 35°C; Baguio City, 16°C to 25°C; Laoag City, 25°C to 33°C; Legazpi City, 26°C to 33°C; Metro Cebu, 27°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 26°C to 33°C.
