MANILA – The weather bureau announced on Wednesday (07 Feb 2024) that some areas of the country will experience rain showers due to the easterlies and the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over the Davao Region, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Southern Leyte, and Bohol as a result of the easterlies.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas may lead to flash floods or landslides.

Batanes, on the other hand, will experience isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

For the rest of the country, fair weather is anticipated with isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

In terms of sea conditions, moderate to rough coastal waters and moderate to strong winds are expected over Northern Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.
