MANILA — The Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) and Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC) were honored with the prestigious DOH Excellence Awards at the health department’s 126th Anniversary celebration held on June 21, 2024, at Duque Hall, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital.

The event carried the theme “Pagdiriwang sa Kultura at Tradisyon Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

The DOH Excellence Awards celebrate hospitals that excel in enhancing healthcare service efficiency, patient safety, treatment effectiveness, and overall community health.

MMMHMC earned the DOH Excellence Award (Secretary’s Choice) for achieving the top ranking in the 2023 Secretary’s Scorecard for hospitals nationwide.

ITRMC was recognized as a key contributor to the DOH’s 8-point agenda, showcasing exceptional commitment and outstanding performance. Medical Center Chief II Eduardo M. Badua III also received an individual award for his exemplary accomplishments and dedication.

Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco commended the facilities, urging them to continue striving for excellence and to embrace opportunities to enhance quality, safety, and patient care.

She quoted Aristotle, highlighting that “Excellence is never an accident; it is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution, and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.”

ITRMC and MMMHMC, the premier DOH hospitals north of Manila, are renowned for providing specialized, high-quality healthcare services.
