MANILA – Puerto Rico triumphed over Belgium with a decisive 25-19, 25-15, 25-16 victory, securing their place in the final of the FIVB Women’s Challenger Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Saturday (06 July 2024).

Outside hitter Paola Nicole Santiago led the charge with 12 attacks and an ace, while 18-year-old opposite hitter Grace Mar Lopez contributed 10 attacks. Stephanie Rivera added seven attacks and one block, and Neira Ortiz chipped in with seven points, including an ace.

“We were focused from the start, with strong serves, defense, and attacks. That’s what got us the win,” said Lopez after the 85-minute match. “It feels amazing. We’ve worked all summer for this, and now we’re ready for tomorrow’s final.”

Puerto Rico will face the winner of the Vietnam vs. Czech Republic semifinal match, with the final set for Sunday. The champion will earn a spot in next year’s Volleyball Nations League.

Vietnam previously eliminated Alas Pilipinas in the quarterfinals, winning 25-14, 25-22, 25-21.
