MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has chosen Major General Steve Crespillo to lead the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), the Departtment of National Defnse said Saturday.

According to Defense Spokesperson Arsenio Andolong, Crespillo presently holds the position of deputy commander of the Philippine Army, where he oversees critical policies and programs.

Crespillo’s prior role involved heading the 501st Infantry Brigade, leading successful campaigns against insurgents and armed conflicts in Apayao and Cagayan, as highlighted by Andolong.

The incoming Westmincom leader is a proud member of the “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990 from the Philippine Military Academy. (ai/mnm)
