STA. CRUZ, Laguna – The top teams from the four regions in Southern Luzon converge in this town as they clash for spots in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa through the Cluster 2 Pre-National Qualifying Meet happening this week.

Nineteen events, all team sports, will take place in the weeklong event with representatives from Metro Manila, Bicol, Mimaropa and host region Calabarzon colliding for two spots per event to the Palaro proper in Marikina from July 29 to Aug. 5.

About 1,250 athletes from all four Southern Luzon regions are participating in the qualifying meet.

All games will be played in this town except for the baseball secondary event, which will happen at the University of the Philippines Los Baños Baseball Field.

The Laguna Sports Complex is home to 11 events, including the anticipated basketball secondary boy’s tournament. (PNA)
