The Quezon City government has recently exposed approximately 26,000 fraudulent individuals who possessed bogus persons with disability (PWD) identification cards. This significant revelation came to light after the successful implementation of an automated registration system (ARS), which effectively detected and eliminated deceitful applicants and existing cardholders.

Mayor Maria Josefina “Joy” Belmonte disclosed this information while commending the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) at City Hall for executing a meticulous verification process.

“With the utilization of this automated registration system, we can guarantee that the assistance and support provided will genuinely reach those in need, as the names of individuals who falsely claimed to have disabilities have already been removed,” she expressed.

Mayor Belmonte further emphasized, “The inappropriate utilization of PWD IDs by individuals who are not genuinely disabled is absolutely unacceptable.”
