BULACAN — A rice warehouse in this province has been instructed to shut down due to its inability to present the necessary documentation.

In an unexpected turn of events today (Wednesday, 30 August 2023), House Speaker Martin Romualdez, along with Erwin Tulfo, a representative from the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) partylist, and Alvin Enciso, the head of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), carried out impromptu inspections at rice warehouses in Balagtas and Boaue, both located in Bulacan.

Following a thorough evaluation led by CIIS Chief Alvin Enciso, it was revealed that the suspected warehouses, which were under suspicion for involvement in rice smuggling and hoarding, have been temporarily ordered to halt their operations. This action was taken due to their inability to furnish the necessary legal documents required for their business operations.
