MANILA — The low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring widespread rains across the Philippines, the weather bureau announced on Monday (07 Oct 2024).

As of 2 a.m., the LPA was located 165 km west-northwest of Coron, Palawan, and is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

However, both the LPA and the ITCZ will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, and Batangas.

Moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas may lead to flash floods or landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Meanwhile, easterlies will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will also experience isolated showers due to the ITCZ.

PAGASA further reported that light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected nationwide.
