MANILA — No one from among the 178,000 Filipinos living in Florida was reported hurt after Hurricane Milton lashed Florida in the United States.
“Sa ngayon naman po, wala pa po kaming natatanggap na ulat na mga Pilipino na mga kababayan natin na nasaktan o nasawi dahil sa hagupit ng Hurricane Milton,” Consul General Donna Rodriguez said in an interview on Unang Balita.
It was learned that of the total Filipino population, 34,000 are in Tampa Bay and 23,000 are in Orlando.
She added that the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC has been coordinating with the heads of Filipino communities in Florida.
It is ready to provide assistance to the affected Filipinos upon their requests, Rodriguez said.
At least 10 people were killed and more than three million homes and businesses experienced power outages as a result of Hurricane Milton in Florida.
