MANILA — In a recent military operation in Lambunao, Iloilo, three high-ranking leaders of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) were killed, marking a significant blow to the insurgency in the region.

The operation, conducted by the 301st Infantry “Bayanihan” Brigade, resulted in the deaths of two CTG leaders, with the body of a third leader also recovered.

Army Spokesperson Col. Louie G. Dema-ala confirmed the incident, stating that the neutralized individuals were not just National Democratic Front (NDF) consultants, as they often claimed, but active participants in terrorist activities.

These individuals were reportedly involved in operations within conflict-affected and geographically isolated areas (GICAs) across the country, contributing to widespread fear and suffering among local communities.

“Their elimination underscores the true nature of their activities as Communist NPA terrorists, hiding behind the facade of consultancy,” said Col. Dema-ala.

“The Filipino people deserve to know the truth about these individuals who have long been responsible for obstructing peace and progress in our nation.”

The operation also led to the capture of war materiel, weakening the insurgents’ capability the ranking military officer said.

Local government units have been lauded for their proactive role in delivering basic and social services to communities, which, coupled with the military’s efforts and the active participation of residents, reflects a strong desire for genuine peace and development in Panay.

The Philippine Army has called on all Filipinos to unite against the decades-long threat of communist terrorism, which has claimed countless lives and hindered the nation’s progress.

“This is a call to action for every Filipino. We must unite to end this senseless violence and pave the way for lasting peace in our country,” Col. Dema-ala urged.

The operation in Lambunao is part of the ongoing efforts by the Philippine Army to secure and stabilize areas affected by insurgency, with a continued commitment to serving and protecting the Filipino people.
