MANILA – Marcio Lassiter etched his name in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) history books, propelling the San Miguel Beermen to a stunning 131-82 rout of Barangay Ginebra at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night.

Lassiter surpassed Jimmy Alapag’s long-standing record for most career three-pointers, sinking three consecutive long-range shots early in the game. His remarkable performance energized the Beermen, who surged to a 49-point victory, the largest winning margin in San Miguel’s franchise history.

Lassiter’s historic moment came just minutes into the first quarter. After a right-wing three-pointer gave him his 1,249th career trey, he quickly followed it with another from the right corner to tie Alapag’s 1,250 record. A few plays later, Lassiter cemented his legacy by sinking a stop-and-pop three-pointer from the left wing, securing his place as the league’s all-time leader with 1,251 career three-pointers.

“Coach Jorge [Gallent] trusted me to showcase my skills every night, and I couldn’t have done this without my teammates, both past and present,” Lassiter shared after the game.

The Beermen took control early, ending the first quarter with a commanding 37-13 lead, and they never looked back. By the final buzzer, San Miguel had built a 49-point lead, the largest ever recorded by the league’s oldest active team.

June Mar Fajardo powered San Miguel with 24 points and 17 rebounds, while CJ Perez added 22 points. Lassiter finished the game with 18 points, hitting 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.

For Ginebra, Justin Brownlee recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the team’s worst defeat under coach Tim Cone, dropping them to 5-3 in the standings.

In the first game of the night, Phoenix Fuel Masters snapped a seven-game losing streak by holding off Blackwater Bossing, 119-114. Brandone Francis led Phoenix with 23 points, while RR Garcia contributed 20 points to help secure the much-needed victory.

Blackwater’s George King led all scorers with 32 points in the loss, which dropped his team to 3-5 in the standings.

San Miguel now tops Group B with a 6-2 record, while Ginebra falls to third.
