ISTANBUL – On Tuesday, Serbia, France, and the United States secured their spots in the men’s basketball semifinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Serbian men’s basketball team advanced after a thrilling 95-90 overtime win over Australia at Bercy Arena. Serbia was led by Nikola Jokic, who scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and made nine assists, along with Bogdan Bogdanovic contributing 17 points. Despite 26 points from Patty Mills and 25 points from Josh Giddey, Australia was eliminated from the Olympics.

France qualifies

In another quarterfinal clash, host France defeated Canada 82-73 at the same venue to qualify for the next round. The French national team had four double-digit scorers, led by Guerschon Yabusele with 22 points. Isaia Cordinier added 20 points, Evan Fournier produced 15 points, and Mathias Lessort contributed 13 points. Canada’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the highest scorer of the game with 27 points, while RJ Barrett finished with 16 points.

Team USA dominated Brazil with a 122-87 victory to advance to the semifinals at Bercy Arena. Devin Booker led the US team with 18 points, followed by Anthony Edwards with 17, Joel Embiid with 14, and LeBron James, who finished with 12 points and nine assists. Brazil’s Bruno Caboclo had a game-high 30 points with six rebounds, while Georginho De Paula scored 15 points.

Host France will face world champions Germany, and Serbia will take on the USA in the semifinals at Bercy Arena on Thursday. Earlier on Tuesday, Germany claimed a 76-63 victory against Greece to secure their spot in the semifinals.
