MANILA, Philippines — Award-winning Filipino-American artist H.E.R., known for her 2021 Grammy Award-winning single “I Can’t Breathe,” will perform at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

H.E.R. will deliver the U.S. national anthem during the handover ceremony from Paris to Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Games.

The LA28 emblem featured in her performance showcases a unique design, with the “A” in “LA28” creatively replaced by a purple electric guitar and her signature sunglasses.

The closing ceremony will take place on August 11 at the Stade de France, following a historic opening event primarily held along the Seine River.

Other highlights include performances by Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg, who has been actively involved in the Games as a torch bearer and commentator.

Actor Tom Cruise will reportedly present a pre-recorded motorcycle and skydiving stunt, while French bands Phoenix and Air will perform during the ceremony. American Olympians Katie Ledecky and Nick Mead will serve as flag bearers.

This marks Paris’ third time hosting the Olympics, following 1900 and 1924, and Los Angeles’ third, with previous editions in 1932 and 1984. The 2028 Games will also be the first time Los Angeles hosts the Paralympics.

The Philippines matched its Tokyo medal tally with Carlos Yulo’s historic double gold in gymnastics and bronze medals for boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.
