Globe has readied its network and prepositioned its personnel and supplies across Mindanao and parts of Visayas in anticipation of the potential impact of Tropical Depression Kabayan, which has prompted storm warning signals in the southern regions a week before Christmas.
The storm made landfall Monday as a Tropical Storm carrying winds of up to 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph as it moved west northwestward at 20 kph across the Mindanao landmass, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
Designed to be resilient, Globe’s network facilities are equipped with generators and batteries to ensure continued connectivity services despite possible commercial power outages.
Globe’s technical and support personnel have also been prepositioned, while critical supplies are also in place in areas on the path of the storm to ensure immediate response in anticipation of Kabayan’s impact.
Globe is also ready to deploy Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi Services in areas where the storm may cause power and service outages.
“It is unfortunate that our kababayans in the southern provinces are facing a weather disturbance just a week before Christmas. To help minimize the impact of the storm, our facilities and personnel are already in place in areas that may be affected to ensure quick response,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, Globe Group.
Globe also calls on communities that may be hit by Kabayan to prepare by storing food, water and medicine, readying first aid kits, emergency light sources and batteries, and charging their mobile devices.
Globe reminds the public to get their weather information from legitimate and trusted news sources, and heed warnings sent by the agency via SMS alerts. To help customers access timely and verified weather updates, Globe provides free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
