MANILA – Several local government units (LGUs) across Luzon have announced class suspensions for Monday, November 11, due to the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Nika.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Nika is expected to intensify into a typhoon before making landfall over Isabela or northern Aurora on Monday morning.

PAGASA has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 in the southeastern part of Isabela (Dinapigue, Palanan) and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan), with a possibility of TCWS No. 4 being declared.

Caloocan, Las Piñas, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Quezon City, Valenzuela – All levels, public and private

Makati – Kindergarten to senior high school, public and private

Manila – All levels, public and private (online classes for college at the discretion of school admins)

Other Provinces:

Abra, Aurora, Benguet, La Union, Laguna, Nueva Ecija – All levels, public and private

Batangas (Calaca, Laurel), Bulacan (Baliwag, Norzagaray, Obando, Plaridel, San Jose del Monte, Santa Maria), Cagayan (Santo Niño), Camarines Sur (Naga), Catanduanes (Virac), Ilocos Sur, Isabela (Echague), Pangasinan (Mangaldan), Quezon (Catanauan, Calauag, Gumaca), Rizal (Jalajala, Morong), Tarlac (Concepcion, Pura, Tarlac City, Victoria) – All levels, public and private

Mountain Province (Bontoc, Paracelis) – All levels, public and private

Affected LGUs are also advising the public to stay informed and follow local authorities’ directives for safety.
