MANILA — The Metro Manila Council (MMC) is planning to issue an ordinance that would penalize individuals who occupy parking spaces to reserve them for others.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes announced the move following viral videos showing a confrontation over a woman reserving a parking space by standing on it.
“Pag-aaralan natin yan at i-expand ang pagbabawal ng tao sa pag-reserve,” Artes said.
“Pwedeng umabot talaga sa sakitan, yun ang gusto nating iprevent,” he added, emphasizing the potential for conflicts.
Artes stated that the MMC aims to issue guidelines soon and will coordinate with mall owners and private parking facilities to institutionalize the rule and prevent disputes.
