MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that former President Rodrigo Duterte has received an official invitation from the House Quad Committee to attend an inquiry on the war on drugs during his administration.

PNP Spokesperson Police Col. Jean Fajardo stated that Duterte’s official representative received the letter from the committee, led by Representative Robert Ace Barbers, on Sunday (20 Oct 2024).

“Napa-receive na po ‘yung invitation po sa ating dating pangulo. I have this picture na napa-receive na po. Confirmed po ‘yun,” she said.

In addition to the physical letter, the committee secretary also sent an email to the office of the former president, inviting him to the House probe.

The inquiry, which is scheduled for October 22 at 9:30 a.m., is focused on extra-judicial killings.

“The Joint Committee respectfully invites you to attend the said inquiry to provide valuable insights and shed light on the issues under discussion, particularly on extra-judicial killings,” the letter read.
