MANILA — The bill legalizing the use of medical marijuana for those patients with medical conditions has reached the plenary after 13 senators have voted in favor of such a bill.
Some 13 senators have signed Committee Report 210 for Senate Bill 2573 of Sen. Robin Padilla or the “Cannabis Medicalization Act of the Philippines.”
Senators Padilla, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Sonny Angara, JV Ejercito, Lito Lapid, and Raffy Tulfo without annotation while Senators Christopher “Bong” Go, Jinggoy Estrada, Mark Villar, Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Joel Villanueva, and Grace Poe have signed with “reservation.”
According to the bill, the use of marijuana for a patient’s medical condition will be legalized.
“The use of cannabis for medical purposes is hereby permitted, as herein provided for in this Act, to treat or alleviate a qualified patient’s debilitating medical condition or symptoms,” the bill read.
