MANILA – Rain showers will affect most parts of the Philippines on Monday (24 June 2024) due to the combined effects of the easterlies and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an advisory, PAGASA forecast scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, and isolated showers over Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro due to the habagat.

The easterlies will bring similar weather to Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands, with potential for moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, which could lead to flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina noted that no tropical cyclone is expected to develop in the next three days. The rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and calm to moderate seas are expected nationwide.
