MANILA – The University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses secured their third consecutive victory in the 2024 V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge, defeating Far Eastern University in straight sets, 25-23, 25-16, 25-13, at Paco Arena on Sunday (11 Aug 2024).
Angeline Poyos led UST with 14 points, followed by Regine Grace with 11. Mary Margaret Banagua added eight points, including four blocks, three attacks, and an ace.
“Our performance was solid. We minimized our errors and executed our game plan effectively,” UST coach Kungfu Reyes commented.
Far Eastern University’s Gerzel Mary Petallo scored eight points, while Jean Asis and Jazlyn Ellarina contributed seven each.
UST will next face the College of St. Benilde on August 25, while FEU will play against Lyceum on August 14.
In other action, CSB defeated the University of the Philippines, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21, earning their first win after two losses. Wielyn Estoque led with 14 points, supported by Zamantha Nolasco and Shahanna Rheign Lleses, who added eight and ten points, respectively.
“There’s still much to improve, but any win is encouraging. We need to stay prepared for our next match,” CSB coach Jerry Yee said.
UP’s Kassandra Doering contributed 10 attacks and two blocks, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to a 0-2 record.
CSB will face Letran on August 18, while UP will play University of the East on August 21 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
