MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared November 4, this coming Monday, as a “National Day of Mourning.”
The declaration honors the victims of the recent severe tropical storm Kristine.
Proclamation No. 728 also mandates that all establishments with flags lower them to half-mast.
The public is encouraged to offer prayers for those affected by the calamity. “The entire nation is requested to offer prayers for the repose of the souls of the victims,” the President stated.
The proclamation, dated October 30, was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
According to the data included in the proclamation, over 1.7 million families were affected by Kristine, and 139 lives were lost.
