PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Brig. Gen. Jesus Nelson Morales as the new head of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), according to an announcement from Malacañang on Tuesday.
Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil disclosed that Brig. Gen. Morales took over the position previously held by Brig. Gen. Ramon Zagala, who assumed leadership of the PSG in July of the preceding year. Garafil further noted that Brig. Gen. Zagala will be transitioning into his new role as the Commander of the Civil Relations Service within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Brig. Gen. Morales has previously held the role of Deputy Commander at the Philippine Air Force Air Logistics Command.
In his new capacity as the head of the Civil Relations Service, Brig. Gen. Zagala will be responsible for overseeing the military’s engagement efforts with the public, focusing on activities related to public information and community relations programs. (ai/mnm)
