MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a cautionary advisory regarding dangerously high heat index levels expected in several regions on Monday (15 April 2024).
According to PAGASA’s latest forecast, the following areas may experience heat index readings ranging from 42°C to 45°C today:
NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila – 42°C
Laoag, Ilocos Norte – 42°C
Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 45°C
Aparri, Cagayan – 43°C
Tuguegarao, Cagayan – 42°C
ISU, Echague, Isabela – 42°C
Clark Airport, Pampanga – 42°C
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 44°C
Aborlan, Palawan – 42°C
Virac, Catanduanes – 42°C
Masbate City, Masbate – 42°C
Zamboanga City, Zamboanga – 42°C
Cotabato City, Maguindanao – 42°C
PAGASA explains that the heat index indicates what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is factored in with the air temperature.
In light of these conditions, PAGASA advises the public to limit outdoor activities, especially during the noon hours, and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Additionally, individuals venturing outdoors are urged to utilize umbrellas, hats, and clothing with sleeves for sun protection.
Meanwhile, most regions across the country are expected to experience generally fair weather conditions, with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Throughout the archipelago, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are anticipated.
Temperature projections for key areas are as follows: Metro Manila, 25°C to 36°C; Baguio City, 18°C to 26°C; Legazpi City, 26°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu, 26°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 35°C.
