MANILA – The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) will hold its annual Awards Night on January 27, 2025, at The Manila Hotel, celebrating the country’s top athletes and sports personalities of 2024.

The highlight of the event will be the awarding of the Athlete of the Year, with Paris Olympic double gold medalist Carlos Yulo leading the honorees.

Yulo’s historic achievement, which marked the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic double gold, came four years after Hidilyn Diaz’s gold in Tokyo and during the centennial of the country’s Olympic participation. Boxing also shone brightly in Paris, with Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas securing bronze medals.

In addition to the Athlete of the Year award, the PSA will induct a new member into its Hall of Fame, following the late Lydia De Vega’s recent recognition. The ceremony will also honor past Filipino Olympians in commemoration of the country’s 100 years in the Summer Games.

Other awards include the Executive of the Year, National Sports Association of the Year, and top performers in basketball, volleyball, and more. Special recognitions will be given to junior athletes through the Tony Siddayao and Milo Awards. A moment of silence will be held for sports figures who passed away in 2024.

The event promises to be a grand celebration of Filipino sports excellence.
