MANILA — Senate President Migz Zubiri said on Thursday (Sept. 26, 2024) that some senators are pushing to increase the budget for the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

This comes after the House of Representatives reduced the OVP’s proposed P2 billion budget to P1.2 billion.

“We have several colleagues who have expressed their support for increasing the allocation,” Zubiri said.

He specifically mentioned that Sen. Joel Villanueva and Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada are among those advocating for the budget increase.

However, Zubiri emphasized that it is still “premature” to confirm whether the Senate will secure the additional funds for the OVP.
